Anna Gonski Cowenhoven serves as Director of University Communications for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) at Harvard University. In this role, Cowenhoven works with Edgerley Family Dean of the FAS Michael D. Smith and his leadership team to create and implement communications strategies that support priorities and activities across the FAS, including Harvard College, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the Division of Continuing Education, as well as other FAS units. She also serves as the primary media contact and spokesperson for the FAS. As a member of the Harvard Public Affairs & Communications’ (HPAC) senior leadership team, Cowenhoven also works to support University-wide initiatives.
Cowenhoven previously served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs for the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and was part of the Global Corporate Responsibility leadership team. In this role, she managed corporate communications, philanthropic giving, academic partnerships, and signature leadership programs. She has also served in senior media relations and editorial roles for Harvard Kennedy School, Bank of America, Boston Children’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the New England Division of the American Cancer Society. She holds bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Political Science from Indiana University, Bloomington.
